Craig Ferguson Joins the Twitter Brigade

“Late Late Show” host Craig Ferguson has only been on Twitter for a mere day, but has already sent out over 20 tweets and amassed over 30,000 followers. (And yes, that’s actually the witty barmy Scotsman twittering at @craigyferg — CBS has confirmed it.) Commenting on his growing swarm of followers this morning, Ferguson tweeted: “Whadadoo everybody. Gmorning. Woke up to lots of new friends. It’s like being the opposite of drunk.”

Last night, he inaugurated his account with a salty-languaged post about his dogs, followed by knocks at the Who (“Watching the who @ the superbowl made me sad. Like watching my grampa play the spoons”) and his adopted hometown (”More rain comin to LA. It’s starting to look like Scotland with teeth“), and a plea to followers to help him learn how to follow the Twitter account of one of his favorite shows, “Mythbusters” (”Thank you tweeteristas. I’m following Mythbusters now. God, this sh– is terrific.“)

Ferguson first mentioned his decision to join “The Twitter” during his monologue last night, noting that while he had previously talked about not joining Twitter, he also often lies. As an enticement, he also told his audience: “When I have enough followers, I will move them all to a hollowed-out volcano where we will train alongside my robot skeleton army.”
